Great write up on where the real impact of the transit strike will be greatest felt. They also have a good portion of the public comments listed on the Union blog, before someone shut the comments down.

This week my emails to two of my favorite podcasts both got mentioned on the air, so if you are here from Card Club on Lord Admiral Radio or the Used Pirate Sale welcome! Bear Droppings is my own odd assortment of news on Flagstaff AZ, technology and media issues, and then whatever else strikes my fancy.

I have always had an interest in German-American relations since the Wall fell and I studied there. Today brings us a diverse coverage of the topic with a blog carnival on the subject, check it out.

A beer article for homebrewers or anyone who enjoys a good pint. Some aspects of the article get advanced, while other parts are very basic i.e. light wavelengths that can impact beer vs how beer is made. But worth the read.

Typical when relatives ask me about Christmas or birthday gifts I usually mention my Amazon list, but not everything is available via it so here are some other ideas that don't fit there.
Homebrew Equipment Auto Siphon Bottle washer that mounts to your sink (I borrowed a friends and love it, it also drives Bandit nuts :-)) German Wheat Beer book Belgian Ale book and if your feeling really generous there is always a kegging system. Web only item(s)... Gapingvoid tshirt (either design a Large) More to come... Tuesday, December 6

The Grinch is back!
Love the dark ale with a healthy hint of Gingerbread flavor, so if you find yourself in Flagstaff and in need of a great holiday beer stop by Flagstaff Brewing Company, you won't be sorry. Frankly I think it's my favorite beer they brew. In the past and from what I hear this year thus far Flag Brew is the only local brewery to have a holiday ale, but I'll be sure to keep my ears open and report accordingly.

Lately, especially during NaNoWriMo, I have missed my blog not having internet access at home is a big part of the reason I haven't been posting. I'd like to make a concerted effort to make back to posting more regularly. Flagstaff and local issues being a definate focus, but technology as it interests me as well. I am thinking I'll be doing some redesigning in the process, I like blogware and it's components, but likely will need to read the Farm and brush up a little on CSS to some changes. I am even pondering the occasional podcast. But watch this space good things to come.

Arizona, hot place right? Um not so much in Flagstaff. Not so much today.
Woke up and had no water, pipes were frozen, no shower, no toilet, no nada. Thankfully I have a water bottle or horror of horrors I would have no coffee. So I survived with coffee. As I left for work the radio said 5 degrees and weather channel said 7 degrees either way damn cold and pipes froze. Arizona hot, yeah right, not up here. ...But I still love this town. |
