View Article  National Novel Writing Month...
National Novel Writing Month is quickly approaching and like last year I'll be joining the madness and this year I will be a Municipal Liaison for Flagstaff in addition to just participating. For those unfamaliar NaNo is a mass of writers trying to write 50,000 word novel in one month. It's alot of fun and alot of work, but very rewarding. We will be having a kickoff meeting on October 30th at 5:00pm at Pay'N Take here in Flagstaff. If you are participating or just interested in finding out more about NaNo please feel free to drop in and join us.

Flagstaff got it's first snow fall of the season, of many I hope, and it was great fun. Naturally it was the first day this week I choose shorts over jeans (cleanroom suits get warm in winter cloths). I had to wrap my socks in plastic bags before putting on my Tivas was amusing, but necessary step before going to remove the snow off my car. Fall still had not left the Northland so there were a number of tree limbs collapsed between leaves and snow. For as much as I enjoy that first snowfall I think the trusty pup enjoyed it even more. After work I took him down to the local park and let him run wild, which he did with no hesitation. While he has seen snow before, he never saw all that much in Sedona. This time he had a blast running through it, trying to eat snowballs, getting snow kicked in his face and assorted other Winter fun. A roommate has suggested my dog drinks too much coffee, tonight was like expresso overload for my enthusiastic little buddy. The initial snow has stopped and begun melting, but I don't think either of us can wait for the rest of Winter to begin.

An interesting assestment of Kerry's Senate record. For 20 years it doesn't seem like much, when I have a bit of time I'll have to double check it for accuracy.

Quiet of late, work goes well but no new definate news to share. More importantly NaNoWriMo is rapidly approaching and I am still working out what exactly to write. Science fiction is my primary interest but the three-four ideas in my head don't seem to either be developed enough to write, so I find myself looking alittle further back to an old idea from DC. I needed distance from the Hill before going ahead with it, but I think the time is right. Back to the planning...

who needs oppenents?

I have noticed a rather amusing trend around Flagstaff. That those who post Kerry and Babbitt signs in their front yard are more than like to have their yards in disarray. There are exceptions time to time and I ignore leaves in the yard as it is Autumn. The majority though have not done anything to clean their own personal environment anytime recently. If I were a candidate I think might be embaressed even to the point of asking these supporters to clean up their yards or please remove my signs. Sad as it is perception forms much of the basis of reality and the perception left by these supporters is how responsible is someone who can't figure out how to clean their yard. Supporters "For a Stronger America" as some signs read, might start making a stronger community by a bit of yardwork.

Just a thought.
