Fortune runs an article attacking blogs (See: Doc Searls, Dan Gilmor, Steve Rubel), how they potentially threaten business and people need to watch out for them. At the same time Hugh talks about how English Cut is scoring PR victories due to it’s blog.

So which is true?

Both, probably.

Blogs do present a danger to large corporations, but mostly due to their own lack of interaction with their
customer base. As Seth Godin has noted it's due to the television industrial complex, the broadcast model and people stuck in those mindsets. So perhaps there is an ounce of truth to it. Blogs are the clue, but the train has been on the way for a while.

But for smaller and niche businesses this is the beginning to a whole new world, as Hugh put it a Global Micro Brand. A chance to shine to a wider audience like never before.

Sure it's a danger to some, but those who do not want to be locked in a cubicle for their career it's presents an opportunity to be free.

Great Post by Hugh, I suspect knowingly or unknowingly his principal was a reason for my move back to Arizona three years ago. I still haven't gotten there, but it always nice to see the point made so well.

I'm a Homebrewer, BJCP Judge and Writer. I want to understand the Art of Beer, but appreciate the Science that makes it happen. Perhaps most importantly I want to have fun on the way.
