The media always makes these cost of living adjustments sound evil, but let's face facts people. When members gave up being paid for speaking engagements they allowed a COLA to keep up with inflation, nothing wrong with that. "The latest boost is for 3.4 percent and will raise members' annual salaries to $150,000." That sounds like a lot but if you have to maintain two residences and put kids through school, which many of them do, it suddenly doesn't sound like a whole lot. I am getting 4% in the private sector and we are under a budget crunch, so 3.4 doesn't sound outrageous. I wonder what the reporter who wrote it got for a COLA? Alan Fram opposed disclosure of his salary, but complains about the Congress alittle hypocritical, no? He states he's a private citizen, but I see his name alot in public, don't you? Just so we are clear on matters of disclosure, for those of you who don't know I used to work on the Hill.
